the cosmic house, Holland park
The Cosmic House was once the family home of architectural historian, critic, writer and designer Charles Jencks. Built between 1978 and 1983 as a collaboration between Charles and Maggie Jencks and the architect Terry Farrell, The Cosmic House is considered to be a postmodern masterpiece.
Now open as a museum by the Jencks Foundation, the public are invited to explore this fascinating and curious world imbued with symbols and iconography, cosmic references and wit.
Beam were commissioned to design the lighting for the new exhibition space created to showcase the history, influences and vision that inspired the architecture of the house.
