Beam were delighted to design the lighting scheme for this timely and important exhibition that traces the rise of throwaway culture and explores how cutting edge design is working to tackle it.

With sustainability in mind, Beam worked with 3D designers https://materialcultures.org/ to light the exhibition entirely from stock lighting. This included reusing elements from previous exhibitions at the museum.

In line with the values of the exhibition, the Design Museum subjected the show to a full environmental audit. This marked the first time the carbon footprint of a temporary exhibition like this had been formally assessed.
