‘Weird Sensations Feel Good’ is the first exhibition in the UK to explore the internet phenomenon of ASMR.

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response or ASMR is defined as a physical sensation of euphoria or deep calm, sometimes a tingling in the body, triggered through sound, touch, and movement. Millions around the world are now part of an online community of those who experience this phenomenon, and those who design content to trigger it.

The Design Museum, in collaboration with ArkDes, the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design have curated this exhibition to bring the online world into a physical space, offering visitors the chance to explore and experience the creativity, content and tools used by online producers.

Beam worked with the 3D team to create a soft, dynamic floating central arena space from scratch. We made 60 custom light fittings and a control system giving complete flexibility to us for programming. The system uses continuous LED strips with high frequency digital dimmers to create waves of light throughout the space.
